Welcome to Baywood Knolls / Baywood / Aragon
Picturesque and community-orientated San Mateo neighborhoods.
Baywood Knolls, Baywood, and Aragon are picturesque San Mateo neighborhoods nestled between Baywood and Hillsborough. The leafy streets of these communities provide a family-friendly sense of suburban calm while being located within a mile of Downtown San Mateo. The land was developed on a former cattle ranch at San Mateo’s west, bordering Hillsborough’s Tobin Clark Estate to the north. Residents enjoy a sense of close community comprised of many young families and retirees. Locals can often be seen out and about, walking dogs or strolling in the superb year-round weather. Most properties in the area are spacious post-war, single-family homes.
Downtown San Mateo is accessible on foot within 15 minutes. Here you’ll find dozens of diverse restaurants, with Japanese eateries being particularly plentiful. The omakase sushi course at
Sushi Sam’s Edomata, yakiniku barbeque at
Gyu-Kaku, authentic ramen bowls at
Himawari, and drinks and small plates at
Izakaya Ginji and
Dash are just a few of the standouts. There’s also live jazz and an extensive wine list at
B Street & Vine, Pan-Pacific seafood at
Pacific Catch, and wood-fired pizzas and other fresh Italian dishes at
Pausa.
Peninsula Golf & Country Club is a few blocks southwest of these communities. This prestigious club has been ranked as a Diamond Club of the World by Board Room magazine, with facilities including a 1922 Donald Ross-designed golf course renovated by Ron Forse in 2003, along with a grand clubhouse and swimming pool.
San Mateo Central Park is also easily accessible on foot. Spanning 16.3 acres, this lush green space includes a rose garden, a children’s play area, and a beautifully landscaped Japanese garden.
Residents of Baywood Knolls, Baywood, and Aragon enjoy access to outstanding public schools, with Baywood Elementary, Borel Middle School, and Aragon High School located just outside the neighborhood.
